Ava DuVernay Says She May Be Taking Notes on Fan Casting For New Gods


Ava Duvernay shared a new update on the status of Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods.

One of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC is a film centered on the New Gods, a fictional race of powerful beings who live within the realm called the Fourth World. Acclaimed filmmaker Ava Duvernay is set to helm the New Gods film and is currently hard at work co-writing the screenplay with Eisner Award-winner Tom King.

Today, Ava Duvernay took to her official Twitter account to update fans on the current status of New Gods, noting that she is “dreaming of actors” to portray the characters in the film. In fact, Ava Duvernay wrote that she may be taking some notes on the “incredible fan casting” she’s seen so far.

Directed by Ava DuVernay from a script she is co-writing with Tom King, Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods film will be based on characters created and designed by Jack Kirby. Details on the film are currently unknown, though comic book incarnations of the New Gods have included characters such as Granny Goodness, Desaad, Godfrey, and the powerful villain Darkseid.

New Gods is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Supergirl, The Suicide Squad, and Shazam 2.
