Charlie Hunnam Suits Up As Green Arrow For The DCEU In New Image
The DCEU finds an awesome contender for the Green Arrow title with Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam in this amazing new image.
Although Arrow starring Stephen Amell grew immensely popular in The CW’s Arrowverse, the DCEU has yet to introduce the Green Arrow himself. Some years ago, when rumors started to mount regarding a Green Arrow film allegedly being in development, actor Charlie Hunnam was supposedly strongly considered for the part. Charlie Hunnam’s rugged appearance and his rising stardom with Sons of Anarchy at the time made him a serious contender for the part. Nevertheless, the DCEU came to a halt and only Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman seem to have lived on with characters like Henry Cavill’s in a complete stand-still while the studios focus on other standalone films such as Zachary Levi’s Shazam!.
Even with that being the case, fan artists don’t forget who they want to see as their favorite superheroes. In this new image, Charlie Hunnam becomes the Green Arrow for the DCEU, making us crave for a standalone film with the Emerald Archer.
Charlie Hunnam was asked back in 2017 if he was interested in participating in superhero films. He said at the time that he wasn’t really comfortable with the genre and maybe it wasn’t the right move for his career:
“I didn’t grow up a comic book fan and I haven’t really seen any of those Marvel films or the Batman films. It’s just not really my taste. I must confess I don’t really know who the Green Arrow is. It’s not part of my vision for my career or what I aspire to.”
However, Charlie Hunnam had an instant and shocking change of heart. Charlie Hunnam later that year stated that although he’s not into comic books he would certainly like DC to give him a call:
“I’m not a fan of the comic books, so I don’t know why people are always asking me about him [Green Arrow], do I look like him? Well then come on DC, what’s up! Give me a call!”

The DCEU continues on April 5, 2019, which will be followed by Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
Although there are no rumors indicating that Warner Bros. and DC are currently developing a Green Arrow film, they are working on several other projects. The list includes Matt Reeves’ The Batman, a Cyborg standalone film, a Flash standalone film, The Suicide Squad, Aquaman 2, The Trench, Black Adam, Supergirl, and New Gods.
