Endgame Star Benedict Wong On Attending Tony Stark’s Wedding
Avengers: Endgame star Benedict Wong reflects on filming Tony Stark’s “wedding.”
Obviously, Tony Stark’s “wedding” was actually a funeral, after the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first superhero sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos and his army during the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame. Benedict Wong, who plays the Sorcerer Wong in the MCU reflected on shooting the now-iconic funeral for Tony Stark, in which the camera follows much of the surviving Avengers in attendance honoring his life:
“Yeah, I think we caught on when everyone was wearing black at the costume fitting. That was quite the one-shot that particular day.”
Benedict Wong recalls that the vibe on the Avengers: Endgame set was quite somber, but everyone was still having a good time despite paying their last respects to Tony Stark.
“Yeah. Obviously, it was somber during the takes, but there was quite a bit of excitement about what was going down.”
In Avengers: Infinity War, Tony Stark battles against Ebony Maw and Obsidian alongside Wong, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner and Spider-Man in New York City. Tony Stark quips to Benedict Wong’s character that he’s invited to his wedding with Pepper Potts.
