‘Game of Thrones’ Star Kit Harington Is Nervous Over ‘The Eternals’ Role

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington is excited about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Eternals, but he is also pretty nervous about jumping into another big franchise.

Kit Harington has been immersed in the world of Game of Thrones for about a decade, and given the massive popularity that series had throughout its entire run, he is certainly familiar with the pressures of being involved with a big franchise. Now, Kit Harington is jumping from Game of Thrones into The Eternals for his next venture into genre storytelling.

The Game of Thrones star recently appeared at ACE Comic Con in Chicago, Illinois. While there, Kit Harington reflected on the pressures of joining the MCU and how it compares to the pressures of playing Jon Snow in Game of Thrones for nearly a decade. You can read Kit Harington’s statement down below:

“A lot of people who go into something like the MCU, they haven’t had experience of, maybe, a franchise that big. I’ve lived with Thrones for ten years, I’ve known a big franchise and something that’s created a world and it has a huge fan base. So for both reasons, I’m excited and terrified. I know the responsibility of actors who came into Thrones knowing that they’re playing a beloved character and that they had a responsibility to fans and to people to do something with that character. And for me, looking at this new universe, I’m prepared because I’ve been part of a universe… but I also have been part of a universe, so I am terrified.”

Plot details for The Eternals remain under wraps, however, the story reportedly features a love story between Sersi and the Black Knight. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the Eternals are a fictional evolutionary offshoot of humanity created by the Celestials over a million years ago. The beings who possess superpowers and longer lifespans were the result of genetic experiments that led to the creation of fellow divergent races such as the Deviants (hideous monsters of human origin who are ancestors to the Atlanteans), and Latents (the predecessors to the Mutants and Mutates that make up many of Marvel’s superheroes).

The cast of The Eternals includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as the Black Knight, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig. Marvel Studios has tapped Chloe Zhao to direct the project from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

The Eternals is set to be released on November 6, 2020. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news regarding Game of Thrones star Kit Harington, The Eternals and the future of the MCU!
