Rian Johnson Wants To Direct ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘The Mandalorian’
Rian Johnson recently explained that he’d love to step back into the Star Wars universe to direct an episode of The Mandalorian.
Even though Rian Johnson’s previous foray into the Star Wars universe was met with toxicity from fans, the director would love to take on an episode of The Mandalorian for Disney+. The show focuses on a lone bounty hunter collecting contracts after the destruction of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. With talents like Bryce Dallas Howard and Deborah Chow directing fascinating episodes of The Mandalorian, it’s not surprising to learn that Rian Johnson wants to take on the series too.
Filming is currently underway on the second season of The Mandalorian, but it doesn’t seem like Rian Johnson will get the chance to direct an episode. In a recent interview with ReelBlend, Rian Johnson explained that if he had the time to put a spin on the Star Wars series that he’d take it on “in a heartbeat”. The director also mentioned that he visited the set of the first season and that it looked like a lot of fun. “Hell Yeah! Man, if I had the time, I would get in there in a heartbeat. I had a set visit for Season 1 and it looked amazing. It looked like so much fun!”
