‘Shazam!’ Director Replaces Henry Cavill’s Superman With Batman

David F. Sandberg removes Henry Cavill’s Superman cameo from the ending of Shazam! and replaces him with Batman in an awesome new image.

By the end of the Shazam! movieBilly Batson learned to appreciate his best friend Freddy and got Superman to show up at their school as a surprise — but what if it had been another superhero that appeared instead of Henry Cavill’s Superman? Shazam! director David F. Sandberg reimagined the ending to his own film where Batman makes an appearance instead of Superman. Even though it’s not the Batman in the current DCEU that shows up, it makes the new photo even funnier.

Aside from all the discussion around Henry Cavill not actually appearing in Shazam!, the cameo itself was genuinely quite funny. But the director’s new take on the scene adds in the Adam West’s Batman instead of Superman. Of course Freddy is still in complete awe of a superhero coming to see him. Just imagine the sheer brilliance of Adam West’s Batman riffing with Jack Dylan Grazer’s enthusiastic fanboy in the Shazam movie. Take a look at the reimagined scene with the Batman cameo instead of Superman in Shazam! below.

Sandberg expected to return to the director’s chair.

Here’s the official synopsis for Zachary Levi’s Shazam! movie:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.

Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Zachary Levi’s Shazam! sequel and Henry Cavill’s Superman.
