Superboy Goes On A Killing Spree In ‘Atonement’ Episode

The ninth episode of the second season of DC Universe’s Titans finds Conner/Superboy going on a massive rampage.

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the latest Titans episode “Atonement.”

In “Atonement”, Robin  tells the Titans the truth about Jericho’s death. This leads to a disbandment of the team, with Beast Boy remaining in the tower to look after Superboy on his own. Superboy just woke up from a coma after getting shot by Mercy Graves with a Kryptonite bullet.

Beast Boy takes Superboy into the public eye in San Francisco. Superboy is mostly unfamiliar with the outside world, and is being taught by Beast Boy about what it means to be a hero. Unfortunately, Superboy takes Beast Boy’s words a little bit differently than how they were intended and when he witnesses a man screaming for help as cops detain him, Superboy takes it as a means to attack.

Superboy then attacks the cop detaining the man screaming for help. More cops swarm to try to bring him down, which leads Superboy to associate the cops with the Cadmus forces that were attempting to capture him following his escape. This leads to Superboy going on a killing spree against the cops, and as more authorities come in to bring him down, he utilizes his heat vision to stop them.

Superboy, as naive as he is finds himself awestruck at the extent of his power as he realizes the damage he’s caused. Beast Boy runs away out of fear of what he may have inadvertently caused.
