The Mandalorian Tops Stranger Things, Doctor Who In Demand

Star WarsThe Mandalorian is already in more demand than Stranger Things, Westworld, and other popular television shows.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Star Wars franchise after The Last Jedi and Solo, The Mandalorian already appears to be among the most popular shows after its first three episodes. Disney finally entered the streaming wars a couple weeks ago with the launch of Disney Plus, with The Mandalorian being at the forefront of the service. This is the first time Star Wars has entered the live-action TV space, where the franchise faces stiff competition with other popular sci-fi shows on streaming like Stranger Things, Doctor Who, Star Trek: Discovery, and Westworld.

Based on Parrot Analytics reported by Forbes, it appears The Mandalorian is already outpacing Stranger Things, Westworld, Doctor Who, and other shows in demand after seven days of its release in the US:

  • 298% ahead of CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut
  • 175% ahead of HBO’s Westworld on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut
  • 72.3% ahead of BBC’s Doctor Who on the 7th day after its Series 11 debut
  • 69.8% ahead of Netflix’s Stranger Things on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut

The Parrot Analytics also showed The Mandalorian ahead of other popular shows in demand after just four days:

  • 58.7% ahead of Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens
  • 35.8% ahead of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy
  • 15% ahead of Netflix’s When They See Us
  • 11.5% ahead of Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Are you surprised by these numbers? Are you surprised The Mandalorian beat Westworld and Stranger Things? Do you think it’s because of the Star Wars brand? Comment below!

The Mandalorian is set after Return of the Jedi and explores the Star Wars timeline between the original and sequel trilogies for the first time in live-action. Here’s the official synopsis:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

The Mandalorian can only be watched on Disney Plus, which has so far only launched in a few countries. The series is released on a weekly basis, with the first two episodes of eight online. A second season of the Star Wars show is currently filming.
